Good idea: drinking your greens. I make smoothies with milk, spinach, banana, flax, and occasionally cinnamon (general recipe here) to spice it up a bit. Tastes pretty good, has a weird texture, but is a great way to squeeze in a bunch of spinach when I’m not in the mood to stomach a salad, or raw veggies are making me gaggy (which they often do when I’m pregnant…)
Bad idea: making said smoothie in the morning, and saving it for later. It turns nasty brown, clumps a bit more, and is just as gaggy, if not more, than a salad. Plus, I feel obligated to drink it because I know how much goodness lies within…but EWW. Eating should be at least somewhat pleasurable, or tolerable, and not painful.
Note to self – drink green smoothies as soon as you make them…
